FRGS is pleased to announce that Char McCargo Bah will be the featured presenter at its June meeting. Those who have had the pleasure of hearing Ms. Bah know she is a knowledgeable and dynamic speaker. She is the CEO and owner of FindingThingsforU, LLC. and has appeared in numerous television interviews and documentaries. Ms. Bah is the author of two genealogical columns and is a former board member of the Virginia Genealogical Society.
Char’s research specialties are: Adoption, African American, Civil War, Federal Records, Historical Sites, House Historian, Library of Congress, Migration, Neighborhood Reconstruction, Forensic, and Court Records.
Char’s topic will be Beginner’s Tool Box to Genealogical Research. This lecture will highlight the beginners’ tools in starting your family research and will include varies ethnic backgrounds and cultural traditions. She will examine the known to the unknown information about your ancestors. Char will also examine each document for its primary source information, as well as its secondary source information. This lecture will aid the researcher in using the tools to locate the necessary documentation that can further your research.
The June meeting has been moved from its normal Wednesday evening to a special Saturday afternoon date — 17 June from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
