DESCRIPTION:If you are researching Irish families\, what is new and moving and shaking? We will look at the new databases available to researchers and will demonstrate a few of them.  There are new tools for identifying people and places. \nWe will look at available Irish Census records especially the 1901 and 1911 census. The 1926 Census will become available in April 2026. We will look at the Virtual Treasury was started in 2022 as an attempt to recreate the records destroyed in 1922 at the outset of the Civil War. DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\nEvery Second Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9 PM ET \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFRGS is hosting an upcoming Business Meeting and Presentation.  FRGS will meet regularly every second Wednesday of each month (except July\, August\, and December) from 7 to 9 PM ET.  The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. \n\n\n\n\n\nTopic:\nFor a quarter century\, FoWB analysts were trained to speak of the Parker Store Road\, which crossed the Ellwood manor grounds immediately in front of the Manor House. The road\, a mere cart path\, ran generally from the Germanna plank road on the North to the Orange Plank Road on the South. There\, it terminated in proximity to what was known as the Parker Store. Members of the CWSG documented this route some years ago and produced a report on the cart path. Vestiges of the cart path remain today\, identified by the intrepid trekker.\n\nWhy the Parker designation? What was the Parker function in its time? What role did the story play during the pre-Civil War years and then during Mine Run and Wilderness Battles? So many questions\, so little time. This presentation will endeavor to answer these and many other questions regarding the Parker VA phenomenon.\n\n\n\n\nThe link to register for the meeting is below.

However\, the process is sometimes reversed\, and one must think differently. Dr. Char Bah has recently engaged in the latter research journey. Under contract\, she has spent two years searching for the enslaved persons owned by George Mason\, IV. Mason was a resident of Gunston Hall in the 1700s and is said to have owned several enslaved persons. \nJoin FRGS on April 6th for Dr. Bah’s description of her journey through the Gunston Hall records in a hunt for the descendants of those enslaved persons.
